While conducting a routine inspection of the workshop this morning, I happened to run into the order coordinator and the technician; they were anxious because the printing plate for a rush order of wash care labels was missing some content.

The error stemmed from a lack of attention to detail by the designer responsible for creating the plate; they had accidentally omitted the “TM” while copying the content from the client’s file. Had the labels been mass-produced and delivered—only for the client to sew them onto the products—it would have been a major quality failure, requiring a massive, costly rework operation.
Catching the error in time served as a wake-up call, reminding us to be even more meticulous at every stage of the workflow. From production drawings to material verification, we require employees at each step to check the work of the preceding stage. We only proceed to the next step after confirming everything is correct, thereby minimizing the risk of errors.

To handle this urgent situation, we opted to use the old printing plate from the initial sampling phase. Unlike many of our peers, our factory typically discards printing plates after a single use. The longer a plate is used, the more the print quality degrades. To ensure top quality for our clients—especially for large orders—we often produce multiple plates and rotate them during the run.
This specific batch consisted of 50,000 wash care labels. While using the old sample plate was a viable emergency solution, it required the technician to slow down the printing speed and monitor the machine with extra care, roughly doubling the production time.
